This special vintage is part of Planteray’s Oceana Collection 2026—an exclusive series that celebrates rums from the world’s fascinating islands. Fiji 2012 is the series’ oldest release and is available as a One-Time Limited Edition.

14 years of aging—11 years in Fiji and 3 years in France

The rum was distilled in 2012 at Rum Co. of Fiji on the island of Viti Levu. It is made from local molasses and distilled in a traditional Double-Thumper Pot Still. This results in a powerful and aromatic rum with a truly unique character.

For the first 11 years, the rum matured in former bourbon barrels in Fiji’s warm and humid climate. The long tropical aging has developed an intense flavor profile featuring ripe fruit, spices, and deep oak notes.

Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel then selected 31 barrels, which were shipped to France. There, the rum underwent an additional 3 years of aging in Ferrand Cognac barrels.

This additional aging provides a beautiful roundness and adds elegance to the robust Fijian rum style. The result is a complex and harmonious rum with a full 14 years of barrel aging.

Tasting Notes – Exotic fruit, spices, and elegant minerality

Nose: An intense and inviting aroma of ripe guava, baked pineapple, and sweet banana. Subtle notes of orange peel, leather, and tobacco add extra depth, while a discreet hint of smoke lends character.

Taste: Full-bodied and almost oily, with juicy mango, pineapple, and fresh citrus. Sweet fruit is beautifully balanced by spicy oak, a hint of eucalyptus, and subtle toasted notes.

Finish: Long and elegant with vanilla, passion fruit, and warm spices. A slightly dry and mineral finish gives the rum an exciting freshness.

Rum Co. of Fiji was founded in 1980 in Lautoka on the island of Viti Levu. The distillery uses molasses from locally grown sugarcane and is known for its aromatic and characterful rum.
