Planteray Jamaica Long Pond STCE Vintage 1995 Juuls 100th Anniversary is an extraordinary aged Jamaican rum, created to mark the 100th anniversary of Juul’s Vin & Spiritus. This is a rare Long Pond bottling from 1995 with a total of 31 years of cask aging and plenty of classic Jamaican character.

The rum comes from the legendary Long Pond Distillery in Jamaica and bears the coveted STCE mark. It features an intense and aromatic style, with ripe tropical fruit, esters, spices, and deep oak notes taking center stage.

23 years of tropical aging and 8 years in Ferrand casks

After distillation in 1995, the rum spent a full 23 years in bourbon casks in Jamaica’s tropical climate. The long tropical maturation has significantly enhanced the rum’s concentration and imparted deep notes of ripe fruit, vanilla, spices, and oak.

The rum was then transported to Europe, where it underwent an additional 8 years of aging in Ferrand casks. This continental aging has added even more layers and rounded out the powerful Jamaican style.

In total, this Long Pond has thus undergone an impressive 31 years of cask aging. It is bottled at 52%, which provides plenty of intensity while allowing the long aging and complex aromas to come through clearly.

STCE – a classic Long Pond with plenty of character

Long Pond is famous for its historic fields, which represent different production methods and aromatic profiles. STCE is among the more intense and ester-driven styles from the distillery.

Here you get the characteristic combination of overripe tropical fruit and Jamaican funk. The long aging adds notes of coffee, toasted coconut, cedar, and warm spices. The result is a complex rum where the powerful Long Pond character still shines through after more than three decades in the cask.

This is a rum that deserves plenty of time in the glass. Enjoy it neat and let it unfold slowly. A few drops of water can bring out additional layers of fruit, spices, and the characteristic ester-driven aromas.

Tasting Notes

Color: Deep mahogany.

Aroma: Intense and complex with overripe tropical fruit. Mango, pineapple, and banana burst from the glass, while darker notes of coffee, toasted coconut, and cedar add depth and maturity.

Long Pond Distillery and Planteray Rum

Long Pond Distillery is located in Trelawny, Jamaica, and has a long history of traditional Jamaican rum production. The distillery is particularly famous for its many historic marks and distinctive pot still distillates with widely varying ester profiles.

Planteray Rum is part of Maison Ferrand, where Alexandre Gabriel has been working with spirits and barrel aging for decades. Planteray was formerly known as Plantation Rum and has become particularly renowned for its work with rum from some of the Caribbean’s most time-honored distilleries.
