Tolosa Winery Estate Pinot Noir Edna Valley 2018

Tolosa Estate Pinot Noir 2018 from Edna Valley is California Pinot Noir at its most elegant and terroir-driven. This wine comes from Tolosa’s iconic Edna Ranch in the San Luis Obispo Coast – a cool coastal location that creates optimal conditions for Pinot Noir with freshness, structure and depth.

The wine is composed as a mosaic of different parcels on the large Edna Ranch parcel. Several classic Burgundy clones – 115, 777, Pommard and 667 – are used, each contributing their own character. The interplay between the clones and the varying soil types results in a Pinot Noir with impressive complexity and layer upon layer of nuances.

After fermentation, the wine is aged for 9 months in French oak barrels, of which approximately 20% are new. This gives structure, depth and a subtle spicy elegance without overpowering the pure fruit.

Tasting notes

Color: Clear ruby red with vibrant intensity.

Aroma: Fresh cherries, raspberries and wild strawberries. Fine notes of rose petals, light spice and a hint of vanilla from the cask.

Flavor: Silky and juicy with red fruit in the front. Elegant acidity and well-integrated tannins create balance. Underlying notes of herbs, lightly toasted oak and minerality add depth.

Finish: Medium to long with fresh fruit and a refined, slightly spicy finish.
