Vallein Tercinier Lot 40 Hommage Bon Bois – Historic Limited Edition Cognac 49,7%

Vallein Tercinier Lot 40 Hommage Bon Bois is a rare and deeply moving cognac created as a tribute to Paul Vallein. This unique bottling embodies family history, terroir and decades of patient aging. Only 570 bottles were bottled in 2017 – a true collector’s cognac for the serious connoisseur.

This lot originates from Domaine des Forges and was distilled during the Second World War. It then rested in the family cellars for decades, where time and wood shaped its complex and mature character. The result is a cognac with depth, structure and a rare emotional dimension.

The Hommage edition is dedicated to Paul Vallein (1864-1944), who developed the house after his father George Vallein, who founded the trading company in 1850. Paul had no children and therefore passed on his knowledge and values to his nephew Louis Tercinier. This legacy lives on today, with the family still in charge of production.

Tasting notes

Color: Deep amber with copper tones, indicative of great age.

Aroma: Intense and refined with notes of dried fruit, walnuts and noble wood. Also honey, light tobacco and fine spices.

Taste: Rich and concentrated with layers of candied fruit, rancio, dark caramel and delicate oak. The 49.7% alcohol gives structure and lifts the aromas.

Finish: Very long, complex and silky smooth with lingering nut and spice notes.

Enjoy neat in a large cognac glass at room temperature. Give it plenty of time in the glass – this cognac develops beautifully minute by minute.

The story of Vallein Tercinier

The Vallein Tercinier family has roots in the Cognac region dating back to 1480. The production of wine began in 1791 when the family bought the Domaine des Forges in Chermignac, about 30 km west of Cognac town. In 1850, George Vallein founded the trading house and this is where cognac production really took off.

From the beginning, a professional cellar master was hired and today the family – now in the 5th generation – still manages the distillation at the house’s 8 pot stills. The combination of historical heritage, craftsmanship and respect for terroir makes Vallein Tercinier one of the most authentic family houses in Cognac.
