As the day draws to a close and the sky turns amber-red, Skumring Vintage 2017 comes to life. This Danish single malt from Nyborg Distillery is a tribute to that golden moment between day and night — a moment of calm, when the whisky still glows warmly in the glass.

Distilled in March 2017 and bottled in August 2025. After eight years of maturation in a 1st fill Oloroso sherry butt, it has achieved a rare depth and richness. Only 638 bottles exist of this limited edition. The whisky is bottled at full cask strength of 56.3%, non-chill filtered, and naturally colored.

Skumring is part of the Isle of Fionia Adventurous Spirit series — created for those who dare to seek the unexpected. No compromises. No attempt to tame the character. Every drop is crafted to surprise, seduce, and make you say wow.

Tasting Notes – Nyborg Skumring Vintage 2017

Nose: Deep and intense. Dark raisins, dried figs, and caramelized nuts dominate the aroma. Hints of orange peel, leather, and dark chocolate complete the bouquet.

Palate: Full-bodied, rounded, and rich. Classic sherry notes unfold with dried fruit, dark syrup, and toasted oak. A gentle touch of cinnamon and a whisper of smoke add complexity and balance.

Finish: Long, warm, and lingering. Flavors of espresso, cocoa, and sweet tobacco remain. A vinous aftertaste that leaves a sense of twilight and tranquility.

The Distillery – Nyborg Distillery, Isle of Fionia

In the heart of Funen, in the historic surroundings of Nyborg Harbor, you’ll find Nyborg Distillery — a Danish distillery devoted to craftsmanship, quality, and sustainability.

Founded in 2009 and, since 2017, located in the old workshop buildings where freight trains were once repaired. Today, the air is filled with the aroma of malt, oak, and adventure.

All whisky is produced organically, and much of the barley comes from nearby fields just a few kilometers away. Several of the casks are made from 150–200-year-old oak trees from Funen, giving the whisky a distinct local character.
