Akkeshi Blended Whisky Usui 2021 is a remarkable Japanese whisky and the very first blended whisky from Akkeshi Distillery. A characterful and elegant release, bottled at 48% alcohol, it clearly reflects the distillery’s uncompromising approach to quality, nature and craftsmanship.

More than half of the malt in this blend comes from Akkeshi’s own production in Hokkaido – an area known for its cool climate, clean air and maritime influence. It is gently blended with imported, freshly produced grain spirit and then barrel aged at Akkeshi Distillery for more than 3 years. The result is a harmonious and balanced whisky where Japanese precision meets depth and complexity.

“Usui” is the second release in the exclusive 24 Solar Term series, inspired by the ancient Asian calendar where the year is divided into 24 solar seasons. Each bottling interprets a season and its mood – and Usui represents the period when the snow begins to melt and nature slowly comes to life. This is reflected in the whisky, which balances freshness and depth beautifully.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Fresh citrus, green apples and light honey combined with maritime notes, mild smoke and a hint of oak.

Taste: Elegant and well-balanced with notes of malt, pear, vanilla and gentle spices. A subtle smoke and salted minerality add complexity and depth.

Finish: Medium-long and refined with light sweetness, spicy oak and a fresh, almost cool finish.
