Barros Colheita 2003 – Barrel aged port bottled in 2025

Barros Colheita 2003 is an impressive and mature port from the Douro where time has really been put to work. This Colheita is made with grapes from a single vintage and aged in oak barrels from 2003 until bottling in 2025. The result is a deep, complex and harmonious port that is ready to be enjoyed now.

A Colheita develops exclusively in barrel. This results in a soft and rounded style with great complexity. Unlike Vintage Port, the development does not take place in the bottle, but in the wood. The result is a Port with beautiful oxidative notes and an elegant balance between sweetness, acidity and spice. Barros is known for this style and delivers a classic and successful version here.

The color is a beautiful golden brown with warm amber tones. The aroma is open and intense with notes of dried fruit, raisins, caramel and nuts. The taste is full-bodied and rounded with toffee, ripe fruits, spices and a hint of oak. The finish is long and persistent with warm spicy nuances and a pleasant sweetness.

Tasting notes:
Nose: Dried fruit, raisins, caramel and roasted nuts.
Taste: Rich with toffee, ripe fruits and spices.
Finish: Long, warm and elegant with a fine balance.

Serving suggestions: Serve slightly chilled and enjoy with nuts, ripe cheeses or desserts with caramel and chocolate. Also ideal as a meditation wine.

Barros was founded in 1913 by Manuel de Almeida. He had an ambition to create a world-class port wine house. He succeeded and the house became one of the major producers in the Douro. Today, Barros is best known for its Colheita Ports, where long barrel ageing and experience create wines of great depth and quality.
