Plantation Rum Extreme No. 5 – 14 Year Old Barbados Rum 58%

Plantation Rum Extreme No. 5 is a rare and exclusive rum from the acclaimed Plantation Extreme series. This limited edition is created for collectors and passionate rum lovers who seek top-class rums with high intensity, deep complexity and authentic character.

The rum was distilled in 2007 at the historic West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados – a distillery with more than 130 years of experience in rum production. It combines classic craftsmanship with modern techniques, resulting in rums with both depth and finesse.

This 14-year-old rum has undergone a particularly meticulous aging process. First, it was aged for 2 years in bourbon barrels in the tropical climate of Barbados, where the rum developed its rich and powerful character. This was followed by 10 years of aging in a continental climate, which slowly rounded out the structure of the rum. Finally, a further 2 years in Ferrand casks in France added extra complexity, elegance and depth.

The rum is distilled using both Gregg Pot Still and column distillation, providing a harmonious balance between power and elegance. At 58% strength, it is intense and concentrated – exactly what rum lovers expect from a Plantation Extreme bottling.

The bottle design is adorned with art by Barbadian artist Alex Mars, whose colorful style pays homage to the island’s culture and gives this edition a unique and collectible look.

The story of Plantation Rum

Created by Maison Ferrand under the direction of Alexandre Gabriel, Plantation Rum is one of the most respected rum brands in the world today. The philosophy behind Plantation is to select exceptional rums from the Caribbean and then give them an additional aging in cognac casks in France.

Founded in 1893 by George Stade, the West Indies Rum Distillery has been an important part of Barbados’ proud rum tradition ever since. Today, Alexandre Gabriel continues this legacy through carefully selected casks, innovative aging and an uncompromising approach to quality.
