Tamdhu-Glenlivet 12-Year-Old Speyside Single Malt 46% Cadenhead’s Original Collection

Tamdhu-Glenlivet 12 Year Old is a classic Speyside Single Malt, where the distillery’s elegant style meets the deep character of refill Oloroso hogsheads. The result is a harmonious whisky with plenty of fruit and spices and a beautiful balance between sweetness and dryness.

The whisky was distilled in 2013 and bottled in June 2026 as part of Cadenhead’s popular Original Collection. As Scotland’s oldest independent whisky bottler, Cadenhead’s selects casks that showcase the distillery’s own identity. That’s why this bottling is bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration and without added color, so that the whisky’s natural aroma, texture, and flavor are preserved.

Maturation in refill Oloroso hogsheads adds elegant notes of dried fruit, toasted nuts, and warm spices without overpowering the distillate’s fresh Speyside character. The result is a whisky of great finesse, where fruit, malt, and cask blend together into a beautiful and well-balanced whole.

This is an excellent whisky for those who appreciate classic sherry-matured Speyside with plenty of elegance and a long, complex finish.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Ripe apples, orange peel, and dried apricots are accompanied by honey, vanilla, and toasted almonds. Underlying notes of raisins, cinnamon, and a hint of oak add extra depth.

Palate: Creamy and full-bodied with caramel, dried fruit, dark honey, and malt. The Oloroso casks contribute walnuts, spices, and a hint of dark chocolate, while the vanilla maintains the balance.

Finish: Long and elegant with dried fruits, cocoa, toasted nuts, and gentle oak tones. The finish is slightly dry with warm spices and a pleasant fruity sweetness.

The Distillery’s History

Tamdhu Distillery was founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Spey and, over more than a century, has built a reputation for producing elegant Speyside whiskies. The distillery is particularly known for its uncompromising use of sherry casks, which give the whisky great depth, fruitiness, and a characteristic richness.

Cadenhead’s was established in 1842 and is Scotland’s oldest independent whisky bottler. The Original Collection series is designed to highlight the distilleries’ natural character through carefully selected casks, where the whisky’s original style is always the focus. This makes each bottling an authentic experience for the quality-conscious whisky lover.
