Thy PX & Oloroso Single Malt Whisky is a characterful Danish whisky from the renowned Thy Whisky Distillery. This edition is aged in casks that previously held Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry. The combination of these two sherries gives the whisky a deep and complex flavor profile. The PX casks contribute rich sweetness and dark fruit, while the Oloroso casks add elegant, dry and spicy nuances.

The result is a harmonious whisky with both depth and balance. It is rich and complex, yet elegant and well-integrated. The sherry casks provide a beautiful interplay of sweetness, spice and nutty notes.

The whisky is made from Odyssey barley grown locally in Thy. The malt consists of both pale malt and smoked malt dried over beech wood, which adds a subtle smoke and extra character to the whisky. This local approach to raw materials is a central part of the distillery’s philosophy.

Distillation took place in 2019 and 2020 and the whisky was bottled in October 2024 at a strength of 49.5%. It can be enjoyed neat in the glass, where its depth and complexity come to the fore. A few drops of water can open up even more aromatic nuances.

Thy PX & Oloroso Single Malt is an exciting example of the new wave of Danish whisky. It combines local ingredients, sustainable production and classic cask maturation to create a whisky with a distinct identity.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Rich and aromatic with notes of raisins, dried fruit, caramel and roasted nuts. Hints of spice and light smoke add depth.

Flavor: Rich and complex with nuances of dark fruit, honey, spices and nuts. The PX casks add sweetness, while Oloroso adds dry elegance.
