The whisky is made from Heritage Barley, which at Thy Whisky refers to historic grains grown locally around the distillery. These old barley varieties provide a special aromatic complexity and a more nuanced malt profile than modern barley types. At the same time, the raw materials are organically grown and treated with great respect for nature.

This edition is made from Imperial barley, a historic barley type that contributes a rich and complex malt character. The malt is Imperial malt, which gives a deeper and more intense flavor profile. The combination of ancient grains and traditional craftsmanship results in a whisky with both power and finesse.

The whisky was distilled in October 2019 and matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry casks and bourbon casks. The sherry casks add depth, dried fruit and spicy notes, while the bourbon casks add vanilla, caramel and soft sweetness. Together they create a beautiful balance between sweetness, spice and malt.

After five years of maturation, the whisky was bottled in November 2024 at a strength of 56%. The high alcohol strength gives an intense and concentrated flavor experience. At the same time, the whisky opens up nicely with a few drops of water.
