Benriach Malting Season – Second Edition 2022 is a celebration of true craftsmanship and traditional whisky production in the heart of Speyside. This exclusive single malt whisky is created from hand-malted barley directly on the distillery’s own floors – a rarity in modern Scotch whisky production. This is an authentic Speyside single malt with a focus on the raw material, terroir and the distillery’s proud heritage.

The Concerto barley was hand malted at Benriach Distillery in the fall of 2013 during the distillery’s own malting season. This slow and traditional process gives full control over quality and contributes to a deeper and more complex flavor profile. The whisky is then matured exclusively in first fill bourbon casks, which adds purity, vanilla sweetness and a nicely balanced cask character.

Bottled in 2022 at 49.8%, this edition is both powerful and elegant. It’s a whisky for connoisseurs who want to taste the difference when the entire process – from barley to bottle – is anchored in the distillery’s own hands. A true Speyside limited release that combines innovation with respect for history.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Fresh and inviting with notes of vanilla, honey, citrus and sweet malt. Underlying are light floral nuances and a hint of coconut from the bourbon barrels.

Flavor: Creamy and well-balanced with butterscotch, ripe pear, baked apple and sweet barley. First fill bourbon cask adds distinct notes of vanilla, light spice and subtle oak.

Finish: Medium to long with persistent malty notes, soft vanilla and a light spicy finish.
