Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2023 Limited Edition – Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 46

Powerful, dark and deeply characterful, Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2023 is one of the most coveted Islay releases of the year. Aged exclusively in oloroso sherry casks, this annual limited edition combines intense peat smoke with dark fruit and spicy depth. A true sherry bomb from Islay – bottled at 46% and without chill filtration or colorant.

Loch Gorm is named after the dark, peaty loch that the distillery overlooks from Rockside Farm. the 2023 edition is composed of 22 carefully selected oloroso sherry casks from Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin. The three vintages included in the batch range from 2015 as the youngest distillate, among others. In total, 18,000 bottles have been released worldwide – an exclusive bottling for collectors and Islay enthusiasts.

The sherry-impregnated oak adds layers of dark raisins, dried figs and spices to the whisky, which are beautifully balanced by Kilchoman’s classic maritime peat smoke, citrus freshness and salty sea breeze. The result is a complex and intense single malt with both depth and elegance.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Rich and inviting with dark dried fruit, raisins, orange peel, spicy oak and distinct Islay peat smoke.

Palate: Rich and structured with notes of sherry sweetness, dark chocolate, roasted nuts and spices, elegantly balanced by smoke, citrus and a slightly salty minerality.

Finish: Long and warm with lingering smoke, dried fruit and spicy oak.

Kilchoman Distillery – Islay’s Farm Distillery

Founded in 2005, Kilchoman Distillery is Islay’s first new distillery in over 124 years. Located on Rockside Farm near Machir Bay, Kilchoman produces whisky with full control over the entire process – from barley field to bottle. As Islay’s Farm Distillery, they grow their own fields, use locally cut peat, distill slowly by hand and mature the whisky on the island.

Kilchoman is particularly known for their 100% Islay range – Islay’s only Single Farm Single Malt – and for their uncompromising approach: no coloring and no chill filtration. The result is authentic, terroir-driven Islay whisky with character and personality.
