The story behind PlumpJack Estate Winery

The story of PlumpJack began in 1992 with a wine shop in the Fillmore neighborhood of San Francisco. The store was founded by Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty with a vision to create an open and inspiring place where people could learn about and buy wine.

In 1997, the PlumpJack Group founded their own winery when they acquired a historic vineyard on Oakville Cross Road in Napa Valley. The vineyard covers about 21 acres and produces wines with a focus on quality and terroir.

PlumpJack also became known as the first winery in Napa Valley to use screw caps on fine wines. Together with sister wineries Cade Estate Winery and Odette Estate Winery, PlumpJack today works with a focus on sustainable agriculture and high quality in both field and cellar.
