Jean Fillioux SO Elegantissime Grande Champagne Cognac
Jean Fillioux Cognac is a family-owned house, established in 1880. The house and its 25 hectares of vineyards are located in the best of the best area for brandy, namely Grande Champagne. La Pouyade, the name of Jean Fillioux's residence, is located in the middle of the "Golden Triangle" between Verriéres, Angeac-Champagne and Juillac-Le Coq.
Today, Pascal Fillioux, the fifth-generation descendant of its founder, Honoré Fillioux, is in charge of the production. Pascal is a god-pardoned master blender who is responsible for all production from harvesting the grapes to bottling the final brandy – from the house's young Le Coq to the very old Reserve Familiale Cognac.
The style is stringy throughout: Floral, fruity, complex, elegant and powerful. When you taste a Jean Fillioux Cognac, there is no doubt that it is something special and, when you subsequently taste a bottling, there will clearly be a recognition joy.
It was the Norwegian Masterblender of Cognac, Jon Bertelsen, who introduced us to Jean Fillioux Cognac. And Jon is by no means in doubt: Jean Fillioux Cognac is, in exceptional fact, the best he has ever tasted. Thank God, this attitude is Jon's not the only one to have, and Jean Fillioux Très Vieux has also been named by Decanter as the World's Best Brandy, as well as by the United States' leading spirits journalist, Paul Pacult, for the Best Cognac in the World award.
