Santa Sofia Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore 2022 is an elegant and full-bodied Italian red wine that showcases all the best of the Valpolicella region in Veneto. Ripasso wines are known for their extra depth and complexity, and this wine is an excellent example of the classic style where fruit, structure and finesse go hand in hand.

The wine comes from Pedemonte, one of the most beautifully situated and mildest zones in the historic Valpolicella region close to Verona. Here, the climate and soils provide ideal conditions for the cultivation of the area’s classic grape varieties. Over generations, Santa Sofia has built a strong reputation as a quality producer where tradition, experience and modern technology come together.

This Ripasso is made from Corvina (70%) and Rondinella (30%), the traditional grapes of Valpolicella. The wine is made using the famous Ripasso method, where the young Valpolicella wine is fermented a second time together with the skins from Amarone production. This method gives the wine more depth, body, structure and a more intense aromatic character.

After fermentation, the wine is aged for 9 months in oak barrels, after which it rests for another 3 to 6 months in the bottle before release. The result is a wine with a great balance between fruit, spice and structure – a Ripasso with both power and elegance.

In the glass, Santa Sofia Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore 2022 has an intense dark ruby red color. The aroma is elegant and complex with notes of spices and ripe fruit. The taste is harmonious, rich and fruity with a nice structure and a long, pleasant aftertaste that makes the wine both characterful and very inviting.

This Ripasso is a perfect match for Italian dishes, pasta with rich sauces, grilled meat, lamb or mature cheeses. At the same time, it is a wine that can also be enjoyed on its own in the glass, where its richness and complexity really come into their own.
