Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2015

Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2015 is a world-class wine – an iconic Amarone that combines power, elegance and deep complexity in the finest way. This outstanding vintage has achieved international recognition and was named Wine of the Year 2023 with an impressive 100 points by James Suckling. It is a wine that demonstrates Bertani’s mastery of Amarone and why the house is considered one of the most prestigious producers in Valpolicella.

The 2015 vintage was characterized by a warm summer and a relatively early harvest, resulting in grapes with perfect ripeness and excellent concentration. The grapes undergo the classic appassimento method, where they are dried after harvest to intensify aromas, structure and complexity. The result is an Amarone with great depth, impressive balance and an almost majestic elegance.

In the glass, the wine appears deep and intense with a dark ruby red color. The aroma is incredibly complex and opens with elegant floral notes of violet and crocus, beautifully intertwined with refined notes of cedar. Beneath the elegant top notes are deeper layers of earth, tar and dark fruit that give the wine a distinct depth and character.

On the palate, the wine delivers impressive concentration without being heavy. Lively acidity creates balance and energy, while the silky fruit structure elegantly envelops the wine’s tannins. Red fruit notes of remarkable purity evolve towards intense licorice and a complex, almost meaty and slightly salty finish. This is an Amarone with both strength and finesse – powerful yet incredibly harmonious.

Bertani Amarone 2015 is already impressive now, but the wine’s structure, complexity and balance promise a long life in the cellar. It will continue to develop depth and nuance for many decades, making it both a great wine to enjoy now and a great investment for collectors.
