Capitain-Gagnerot Saint Romain Blanc 2023 – Burgundy Chardonnay

Capitain-Gagnerot Saint Romain Blanc 2023 is an elegant white Burgundy made from pure Chardonnay. The wine comes from Saint-Romain in Burgundy and is created by the traditional family house Capitain-Gagnerot. This is a classic white Burgundy with freshness, finesse and a beautiful minerality.

The grapes are grown in Burgundy, where the climate and soil produce Chardonnay with great elegance and suppleness. After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and fermentation takes place in barrels at a controlled temperature. This method preserves the wine’s fresh aromas and gives it a beautiful structure.

The wine is then aged for at least 10 months in oak barrels. Only a small proportion of new barrels are used. This ensures that the barrel supports the character of the wine without overpowering the fruit. The result is a harmonious Burgundy with freshness, richness and complexity.

Saint Romain Blanc is a wine that pairs perfectly with fish, shellfish, light meats and classic dishes from French cuisine. It also works well as an elegant glass of wine in good company.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Fresh and aromatic with notes of citrus, green apples, white flowers and light minerality.

Taste: Elegant and balanced with nuances of ripe citrus, pear and light butter from the barrel aging.

Finish: Clean and fresh with a nice minerality and a harmonious, long finish.

The story of Maison Capitain-Gagnerot

Maison Capitain-Gagnerot was founded in 1802 in Ladoix-Serrigny on the border of Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. Today, the winery is run by Pierre-François and Delphine, who carry on the family’s proud traditions.

The estate owns around 16 hectares of vineyards, which are cultivated with great respect for nature and partly according to biodynamic principles. The vineyards include plots in the famous Grand Cru vineyards in Corton and the Premier Cru vineyard La Micaude in Ladoix-Serrigny.

All grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before pressing. The wines are typically aged between 10 and 18 months in barrel, with only a small proportion of new barrels used to preserve the pure expression of the grapes.
