Capitain-Gagnerot Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Moutottes 2021 is a classic Burgundy from the prestigious Aloxe-Corton appellation in Côte de Beaune. It produces Pinot Noir wines with structure, elegance and great terroir character. This Premier Cru wine shows the area’s characteristic balance between power and finesse. The result is a wine with deep fruit, fine tannins and a beautiful minerality.

Premier Cru Les Moutottes is located in an area where Pinot Noir develops great complexity. The soil and microclimate around the Corton hill provide optimal conditions for the grapes. This gives the wine both intense fruit and an elegant structure. The 2021 vintage is fresh, precise and harmonious with a classic Burgundy style.

At Capitain-Gagnerot, all grapes are harvested by hand to ensure the best quality. The grapes are carefully sorted and destemmed before vinification. Fermentation takes place in open tanks without the addition of cultured yeast. During fermentation, punch-downs are performed twice daily to extract color and aroma. The wine is then aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels. The proportion of new barrels never exceeds 10%, so the fruit and terroir remain at the center.

Maison Capitain-Gagnerot was founded in 1802 in Ladoix-Serrigny on the border of Côte de Nuits. Today, the estate is run by Pierre-François and Delphine Capitain-Gagnerot. The family has around 16 hectares of vineyards in Burgundy. The fields are cultivated with great respect for nature and partly according to biodynamic principles. The parcels include both Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards around Corton. The combination of traditional craftsmanship, hand harvesting and gentle vinification results in wines with purity, elegance and distinct terroir character.
