Christian Drouin Vintage 1970 Calvados – Batch #15307 – is a rare and exclusive vintage bottling from the iconic Normandy calvados house. Distilled in 1970 and only bottled in 2015, this Coeur de Lion (“Heart of the Lion”) has developed a depth and complexity that only time can create. A collector’s bottle and a unique tasting experience for connoisseurs of aged calvados.

This vintage calvados has been aged in select port and sherry casks, adding extra layers of sweetness, spice and dried fruit to the classic apple profile. The combination of ripe fruit, barrel influence, and more than four decades of development results in a spirit with both elegance and intensity.

Bottled at 42%, it is balanced and refined, but still with power and structure. This is Calvados at the highest level – made for slow enjoyment.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Complex and deep with notes of baked apples, dried fruits, raisins and hints of nuts as well as elegant oxidative notes from port and sherry casks.

Palate: Silky and concentrated with layers of caramelized apple, fig, spice and lightly toasted oak. A nice balance between fruit, sweetness and cask.

Finish: Very long and warm with lingering notes of dried fruit, vanilla and spicy wood.

Christian Drouin Vintage 1970 should be enjoyed neat at room temperature in a good tulip-shaped glass. Perfect at the end of a big meal or as a meditation spirit.
