Clyde May is a legendary figure in American whiskey history. He began distilling in Alabama in 1946 and his whiskey quickly became known for its quality. However, production was not always legal, leading to his imprisonment in 1973. After his release, he continued his work. In 2001, Clyde May’s was recognized as the official state spirit of Alabama. Today, the legacy lives on with a focus on tradition, quality and authentic American craftsmanship.
