Domaine Didier Dagueneau Les Jardins de Babylone 2016 Sec – Dry cult wine with intensity and gastronomic finesse

Les Jardins de Babylone 2016 Sec is one of the most unique and overlooked wines from Didier Dagueneau – and a true insider wine for connoisseurs. It’s a dry interpretation of Petit Manseng that delivers a depth and structure normally only found in the greatest white wines of the world.

The wine comes from the steep, sunny slopes of Jurançon, where the soil and climate create perfect conditions for Petit Manseng. In this dry version, Dagueneau works with extreme precision and low yields, resulting in a wine with massive concentration, but also razor-sharp structure and freshness.

the 2016 vintage is elegant and balanced with a great combination of ripe fruit and sleek acidity. The result is a wine that is both intense and refined – a wine that evolves in the glass, revealing new layers with every sip. It’s not sweetness that dominates, but structure, minerality and complexity.

This is a wine made for high-level gastronomy. Perfect with fish, shellfish, poultry or dishes with butter, cream and depth. At the same time, its ageing potential makes it extremely interesting for collectors.

Tasting notes

The nose offers nuances of citrus, ripe apples, pear and white flowers, combined with a touch of tropical fruit and subtle spice. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied and structured with an intense fruit concentration, balanced by a fresh and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, dry and complex with an elegant mineral and slightly salty finish.
