Fettercairn 19-Year-Old Highland Single Malt 46% Cadenhead’s Original Collection

Fettercairn 19 Year Old from Cadenhead’s Original Collection is an elegant Highland Single Malt, where nearly two decades of maturation in bourbon barrels have created a whiskey with impressive depth, a silky-smooth texture, and plenty of natural fruit character. This bottling showcases the distillery’s own style without any unnecessary additives or cask finishes.

The whisky was distilled in 2006 and bottled in June 2026 after 19 years of aging. Cadenhead’s has chosen to let the bourbon casks tell the story from start to finish. It is bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration or added color, resulting in an authentic whiskey with both body and complexity.

The long aging has rounded out the character of the distillate and created a beautiful balance between ripe fruit, vanilla, caramel, and elegant oak notes. The bourbon barrels contribute a creamy sweetness, while Fettercairn’s distinctive style adds freshness and finesse. The result is a harmonious Highland whiskey where fruit and cask work together perfectly.

This is a whisky for those who appreciate well-aged, bourbon-matured single malts with plenty of elegance and a long, refined finish.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Ripe quince, nectarine, and fruit candy are accompanied by vanilla, toffee, and light honey. This is followed by notes of pear, coconut, and a hint of fresh oak.

Palate: Soft and creamy with vanilla cream, butter caramel, and toffee. Juicy nectarines, ripe apples, and a hint of citrus provide freshness, while the oak adds subtle spices.

Finish: Long and elegant with green apples, vanilla, slightly dry oak, and subtle notes of clove. The finish is warm, rounded, and harmonious.

The Distillery’s History

Fettercairn Distillery was founded in 1824 and is located at the foot of the Cairngorms in the Scottish Highlands. The distillery is known for its distinctive distillation method, in which cooling water flows down the outside of the copper stills. This technique produces an exceptionally pure and fruit-driven spirit, which, with long cask aging, develops great elegance and complexity.

Cadenhead’s was established in 1842 and is Scotland’s oldest independent whisky bottler. The Original Collection series is crafted with a focus on highlighting the distilleries’ natural character through carefully selected casks. All bottlings are produced without chill filtration and without the addition of color, so that the whisky’s authentic character is preserved from cask to bottle.
