Glenallachie 2008 is a powerful and characterful Speyside single malt whisky, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2018 after 9 years of maturation. This rare bottling was selected by independent bottler Duncan Taylor and matured in a special Octave cask, which gives the whisky impressive depth and complexity despite its relatively young age.

The whisky comes from Glenallachie Distillery in Speyside, an area known for elegant and fruity whiskies. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 52.9%, giving an intense and rich flavor experience. From cask number 3019084, only 61 bottles were bottled, making this whisky a very rare release for collectors and enthusiasts.

The Octave casks used by Duncan Taylor are significantly smaller than traditional whisky casks. The smaller size increases the contact between wood and spirit. The result is a faster development of aroma, complexity and structure. The whisky therefore achieves a mature character normally seen in much older bottlings.

Tasting notes

The nose opens with notes of honey, vanilla and ripe fruits. There are also hints of caramel, spices and lightly toasted oak. The taste is rich and concentrated with notes of dried fruit, malt, caramel and warm spices. The finish is long, round and complex with elegant cask character.
