Style & production
The HGML marque is among Hampden’s most intense and aromatic profiles. The rum was distilled in 2018 and aged for 7 years exclusively in tropical conditions in Jamaica. The warm climate accelerates maturation and provides a significant concentration of flavor, depth and esters. Bottled at 60%, this rum delivers a pure, unfiltered expression of Hampden’s signature style – powerful, complex and uncompromising.

Tasting notes
Nose: Rich and explosive with overripe pineapple, green banana and fresh lime zest. Notes of olive, licorice and a distinctive hint of acetone indicate a high ester profile and classic Hampden funk.
Flavor: Intense and oily with burnt sugar, vanilla, dried fruit and fresh oak. A light mineral smoke and spicy nuances add depth.
Finish: Long, warm and persistent with tropical sweetness and a distinct Jamaican character that lingers long after the last sip.
Magnum Series – rum and art in symbiosis
The Magnum Series is created as a bridge between the sensory world of rum and the narrative power of photography. Each release unites an iconic rum with a photographer from Magnum Photos, resulting in bottles that are both collectibles and tasting experiences. Cristina de Middel’s contribution to the series combines artistic vision with Hampden’s raw authenticity – a meeting of two worlds, both celebrating the real and unadulterated.
The history of the house
Hampden Estate has been producing rum in Trelawny, Jamaica since 1753 and is one of the oldest active rum distilleries in the world. The distillery is famous for its long-fermented, molasses-based rums, distilled exclusively in traditional pot stills and created using methods passed down through generations.
When the Hussey family took ownership in 2009, tropical aging was introduced directly at the distillery – a decision that has taken Hampden rum to new heights of intensity and depth. Hampden HGML 7 Year 2018 is a clear testament to this philosophy: a rum with history, craftsmanship and pure Caribbean energy.
