Odette Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District Napa Valley 2018 – Iconic Napa Cabernet from legendary Stags Leap

Odette Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a big and impressive Napa Valley Cabernet from the prestigious Stags Leap District, an area known for creating some of California’s most elegant and structured Cabernet Sauvignon wines. It combines power, finesse and terroir to create a wine with depth, complexity and significant ageing potential.

The 2018 vintage is considered one of the most successful in Napa Valley in recent times. The long and stable growing season produced perfectly ripe grapes with intense fruit, fresh acidity and silky tannins. The result is a wine of impressive balance and precision.

The blend consists primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon complemented by Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, which together create a complex and harmonious structure. The grapes undergo a four-day cold soak before fermentation in closed stainless steel tanks. Maceration lasts between 8 and 14 days at controlled temperatures, extracting maximum color, aroma and structure from the grapes.

After fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrel, which contributes to a softer texture and greater complexity. The wine is then aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, 75% of which are new barrels. This aging adds depth, spice and structure while retaining the fruity character of the wine.

The result is a classic Napa Cabernet with great concentration, silky tannins and an impressively long finish. A wine that is already impressive today, but will also develop beautifully in the cellar over the next many years.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Intense and complex with notes of Bing cherry, raspberry, blueberry, pencil shavings, tobacco, dried herbs and crushed granite.

Flavor: Rich and concentrated with dark berries, blackcurrant, cherry, graphite, cocoa and spicy cask notes.

Finish: Long and elegant with fine tannins, minerality and a lasting complexity.
