Plantation Single Cask 9 years Barbados Rum 47,9% – Eriksen Vinhandel 14th Edition
Plantation Single Cask 9 Year Old Barbados Rum 47.9% – Eriksen Vinhandel 14th Edition is an exclusive and hand-picked single cask bottling created for the discerning rum lover. Carefully selected as our 14th Edition Single Cask, this special edition represents the essence of mature Barbados rum with depth, elegance and complex cask character.
Distilled in 2014 at the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados on both pot still and column still, it offers a perfect balance of richness and finesse. It is made from molasses and has undergone an impressive three-part aging journey: 6 years tropical aging in bourbon barrels, 2 years continental aging in France in Ferrand casks and a final 1-year finish in Rivesaltes wine casks. The result is a rum with layers upon layers of aroma, structure and character.
Plantation is known for their double maturation method, where the rum is first matured in the Caribbean and then shipped to France for further maturation. The Single Cask versions are also given an additional finish in specially selected wine, beer or spirit barrels to highlight the unique profile of the rum. Each bottle is numbered and only a few casks are bottled each year – making this 14th Edition a true collector’s item.
Tasting notes
Color: Deep golden with amber hues.
Aroma: Complex and inviting with notes of vanilla, ripe banana, dried fruit and caramelized sugar. The Rivesaltes cask adds vinous depth with hints of raisins and spice.
Flavor: Rich and rounded with toffee, coconut, toasted almonds and dark honey. Underlying are elegant vinous notes, light spicy oak and a nice fruit sweetness. Balanced and harmonious with a distinct Barbados character.
Finish: Long and warm with spice, dried fruit and a rounded sweetness that lingers.
The house behind it – Plantation Rum
Plantation Rum is known worldwide for its uncompromising approach to quality and its iconic double maturation method. The rum is aged first in tropical climates in bourbon barrels and then in France in Ferrand barrels, adding extra complexity and structure.
The Single Cask Collection represents the house’s most exclusive releases. Each rum follows its own aging journey and is finished in carefully selected specialty barrels for a unique signature. Only a few casks are bottled annually and each bottle is individually numbered – a true treasure for collectors and enthusiasts.
