Romero & Sons 9 year Ecuador Rum – authentic small batch rum from the Andes

Romero & Sons 9 year Ecuador Rum is a unique and characterful rum from one of the world’s most diverse countries. Ecuador is located on the northwest coast of South America. Here, sugar cane is grown between the Amazon rainforests, the heights of the Andes and the lush plains of the coast. Rum from Ecuador is rare on the European market, which makes this bottle very special.

This rum is a true artisan product with deep roots in tradition. Its history dates back to 1906, when Alfonso Romero began building copper pot stills in the capital. Today, the distillery is run by his grandchildren Johan and Ivanova Romero. They carry on the family legacy with great respect and precision.

Romero & Sons still produces according to the original methods. Fermentation, distillation and aging follow the same principles as over 100 years ago. Production is limited, which is why this 9 year old rum is bottled in small batches. This ensures an authentic and exclusive experience.

The rum is particularly interesting. It combines XO molasses-based rum with 9-year-old rum distilled from fresh sugar cane juice. The result is a beautiful balance between soft richness and fresh fruitiness. The rum is aged in both French and American oak barrels. No color or sugar is added.

Distillation, aging and bottling take place in the Andes at an altitude of almost 3,000 meters. This provides optimal conditions for slow maturation and complex flavor development. The result is an elegant rum with great depth and a long, pleasant aftertaste.

Tasting notes

Nose: Classic, soft warmth of aged molasses rum.

Taste: Plums and wild berries at first. Then fresh, grassy notes from sugar cane juice.

Finish: Well-balanced, complex and with a long, lingering finish.
