This third and final release in the Smugglers Series is created by combining two distinctive cask types that together deliver depth, complexity and layers upon layers of flavor. First matured in small 125 liter quarter casks – former ex-bourbon barrels – which add concentrated notes of vanilla, coconut and ripe fruit. Then aged in 225 liter European oak Madeira barrels, adding elegant nuances of dried fruit, honeyed sweetness and spicy warmth. The combination is a direct reference to the history of Arran, where smaller barrels were easier to transport and often used in the illegal trade.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Rich and intense with sweet vanilla, candied orange, ripe peach and tropical fruits. Underneath you’ll find honey, lightly toasted almonds and a hint of spicy oak.

Flavor: Powerful and concentrated. Creamy texture with notes of caramel, coconut, dried apricot and raisins, balanced by spices, oak and a slight peppery heat from the high alcohol content.

Finish: Long, warm and persistent, with sweet fruit, spice and elegant cask character that lingers long in the mouth.
