Wolfburn Aurora Highland Single Malt Whisky 46% – Young, rich and impressive single malt from Scotland’s northernmost distillery

Wolfburn Aurora is an exciting and characterful single malt whisky that shows how much quality can be hidden in a young whisky. The distillery dates back to 1822, but was revived in 2013 close to its original location. Today, Wolfburn is the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland.

Although the whisky is still young, the standard is impressively high. Wolfburn bottles their whisky at 46% without cold filtration and without the addition of color. This gives a more authentic and full-bodied taste experience, allowing the pure character of the distillate to shine through.

Aurora is aged in a combination of refilled quarter casks and first fill ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. This combination provides a beautiful balance of sweetness, spice and depth. The result is a whisky that tastes far beyond its age – and delivers far more than you’d expect in this class.

Tasting notes

The nose offers sweet notes of honey, dried fruit and light spice. On the palate, the whisky is round and rich with nuances of caramel, vanilla and ripe fruit. There are also fine spicy notes and a hint of oak. The aftertaste is soft, warm and pleasantly persistent.
