Woodward Canyon Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon Washington State 2018 – Elegant and age-worthy American Cabernet

Woodward Canyon Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is an impressive red wine from Washington State and a great example of how high quality American Cabernet Sauvignon can deliver. The grapes come from older vines that provide a natural concentration and complexity that results in a deep, structured and highly age-worthy wine.

Washington State has emerged in recent years as one of America’s most exciting wine regions, especially for Cabernet Sauvignon. The combination of warm, sunny days and cool nights produces grapes with intense fruit, great balance and a fresh acidity that makes the wines both powerful and elegant.

The Old Vines series from Woodward Canyon is created with a focus on depth and finesse. The old vines give lower yields, but a much greater concentration in the grapes. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels where it develops structure, spice and complexity. The result is a wine with power, elegance and great ageing potential.

In the glass, the wine is dark and intense with classic Cabernet notes of dark berries, spice and cedar. It’s a wine that pairs perfectly with hearty beef, lamb or game dishes – but it can also be stored in the cellar for many years to come.

About Woodward Canyon Winery

Woodward Canyon Winery is one of the pioneers of Washington State and among the first wineries in the famous Walla Walla Valley. The story began in 1977 when Rick Small planted the first vines on the family farm, which had previously grown only wheat. In 1981, Woodward Canyon was established as only the second winery in Walla Walla.

Since then, the winery has grown to about 41 acres (16.6 hectares) of vineyards and continues to operate today as a family business with both Rick’s wife and children actively involved. There is a strong emphasis on the work in the field, which is not surprising as the family has been farming for four generations.

All fields are Salmon Safe certified and the winery is committed to converting to organic and biodynamic farming. This respect for nature combined with experience and passion has made Woodward Canyon one of the most respected names in Washington State.
