The house behind the wine

Château Cantenac-Brown is a classified 3rd Cru château located in Margaux. The château originally bore the name Château Cantenac, but until 1826 the name was changed when the English owner John Lewis Brown added his own surname. Thus, the name Château Cantenac-Brown as we know it today was born. The English influence can also be seen in the castle’s distinctive architecture.

The property has been recognized for generations for its ability to produce elegant, age-worthy wines that combine the silky smooth style of Margaux with structure and depth. Today, the château continues to invest in both vineyards and cellar to ensure that the quality lives up to the 1855 3rd Cru Classé classification – an honor that binds.
