Christian Drouin Réserve – Double Distillation Calvados from Pays d’Auge

Christian Drouin Réserve is the elegant expression of youth from the prestigious Pays d’Auge – the heart of classic Calvados. This is an authentic, double-distilled Calvados created from a careful selection of bitter, bittersweet, sweet and sour cider apples. The result is a lively and harmonious apple brandy with finesse, freshness and a subtle spicy lift from the cask.

Distillation is traditionally done in copper pot stills – the same method used in Cognac – resulting in a cleaner and more structured spirit with deep aromatic character. Réserve is a blend of several Calvados, primarily aged in small, used oak barrels. The moderate cask influence lets the apple fruitiness play the main role, while the initial spicy and slightly toasted notes create balance and complexity.

In the glass it appears clear golden with fine amber nuances. The aroma is fresh and aromatic with ripe apple, pear and a hint of vanilla. The taste is elegant and rounded with crisp apple fruit, light spice and a soft, dry finish. The finish is clean and harmonious with subtle oak and fruity freshness.

Christian Drouin Réserve is ideal as an after-dinner drink, but also works well with cheeses, apple desserts or as a refined ingredient in classic cocktails with an apple profile.

The House of Christian Drouin

The Christian Drouin House of Calvados was founded immediately after World War II with the ambition to produce the world’s best Calvados. In 1960, the family started distilling on their own, and around 20 years later the first bottlings were released under their own name. Since then, the house has achieved international recognition and received numerous awards for its uncompromising quality and respect for traditional craftsmanship in the Pays d’Auge.
