Domaine de Bellene Hommage à Jean Ferté Vieilles Vignes Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru 2018

Domaine de Bellene Hommage à Jean Ferté Vieilles Vignes Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru 2018 is an elegant and complex red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir. It combines old vines, a classic Premier Cru terroir, and Domaine de Bellene’s uncompromising focus on the vineyard’s character.

The wine is a special cuvée created as a tribute to Jean Ferté. The designation “Vieilles Vignes” refers to the old vines, which contribute concentration, depth, and a more nuanced Pinot Noir character.

Savigny-lès-Beaune is located in the Côte de Beaune and is particularly known for Pinot Noir characterized by freshness, finesse, and a charming fruitiness. The Premier Cru wines often add extra structure and complexity. This makes the region particularly interesting for Burgundy enthusiasts seeking classic Pinot Noir with both personality and terroir.

The 2018 vintage was warm and generous in Burgundy. This has produced a wine with ripe and concentrated fruit, while retaining the freshness and elegance that characterize Savigny-lès-Beaune. After several years of bottle aging, the wine has also had time to develop more complex and mature aromas.

This Burgundy pairs beautifully with duck, veal, poultry, mushroom dishes, and lighter game. Try it also with classic French dishes or aged hard cheeses. Serve at 15–16°C and let the wine breathe a bit before serving.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Complex and elegant with ripe cherries, raspberries, and red forest berries. After a little time in the glass, nuances of forest floor, dried herbs, and delicate spices emerge.

Palate: Silky smooth and harmonious with ripe Pinot Noir fruit, cherries, and red berries. Delicate tannins and fresh acidity provide structure, while spicy and slightly earthy notes add depth.

Finish: Long and refined, with ripe fruit, spices, and subtle mineral notes. An elegant finish with a beautiful balance between the vintage’s ripeness and classic Burgundian freshness.

The History of Domaine de Bellene

Domaine de Bellene was established in Beaune in 2005 by Nicolas Potel. From the very beginning, the ambition has been to create authentic Burgundy wines in which both the vineyard and the individual vintage are allowed to leave their distinct mark on the wine.

Old vines play a central role at Domaine de Bellene. The estate follows sustainable and organic principles in the vineyards and places great emphasis on preserving the soil and Burgundy’s long winemaking traditions for future generations.

Today, Domaine de Bellene is recognized among Burgundy enthusiasts for its wide selection of wines from both famous and lesser-known appellations. What all the wines have in common is a focus on terroir, balance, finesse, and an honest expression of their origin.
