History of the house

The Glendronach Distillery was founded in 1826 by James Allardice and today is one of Scotland’s most respected distilleries when it comes to sherry cask maturation. The name Glendronach means ‘Valley of Oak’ in Gaelic, referring to the beautiful landscape of the Scottish Highlands where the distillery is located.

The distillery has built a reputation over generations for whiskies with deep color, rich fruit and complex character – especially thanks to maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
