The Chess Malt Collection H2 Tamdhu 16 year is a powerful and exclusive Speyside Single Malt whisky, created for collectors and dedicated whisky lovers. This isn’t just another bottling – it’s a carefully selected move on the chessboard, where precision, strategy and patience are rewarded with depth, intensity and character.

The whisky was distilled in May 2009 and bottled in August 2025 after a full 16 years of sherry hogshead maturation. Bottled at full strength of 57.5% without cold filtration, it offers an uncompromising and authentic taste experience. With only 258 bottles in total, this is an extremely limited release that will quickly find its way into collections and whisky cellars.

Tamdhu is known for its uncompromising approach to sherry maturation, and this bottling is a textbook example of how Speyside elegance and powerful sherry character can come together in perfect balance. A whisky for slow enjoyment – and for those who appreciate intensity with finesse.

Tasting notes

Nose: Deep and concentrated with notes of dried fruit, raisins, dark caramel and orange peel. Underlying notes of spice, nuts and dark chocolate add complexity and warmth.

Flavor: Rich and powerful with layers of sherry, figs, dates and spicy oak. Notes of cocoa, burnt sugar and warm spices unfold while the alcohol strength is intense but nicely integrated.

Finish: Long, warm and persistent with dark fruit, spices and a slight dryness from the oak that adds structure and depth.
