Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2011

Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2011 is a classic and iconic Amarone from Veneto in Northern Italy. This wine is a textbook example of the traditional Amarone style, where elegance, depth and ageing potential go hand in hand. Bertani is known for producing Amarone with great precision and an almost timeless character, and the 2011 vintage is no exception.

The wine is made from 80% Corvina Veronese and 20% Rondinella. The grapes are carefully selected and dried using the classic appassimento method. This process concentrates the sugar, aroma and structure of the grapes. The result is a wine with intense depth and great complexity.

After fermentation, the wine is aged for a full 6 years in large oak barrels. This is followed by at least 12 months of bottle aging before the wine is released to the market. Bertani has been using this method for more than half a century. The first Amarone from the house was produced in 1958. Since then, the style has been a benchmark for classic Amarone from Valpolicella.

Bertani Amarone is known for its elegant structure and longevity. It develops beautifully in the glass and even more so in the cellar. The wine is ideal with hearty dishes, braised meat, game or mature cheeses. At the same time, it is a wine that can also be enjoyed on its own as a great experience.

History of the house – Bertani

Bertani is one of the most historic and respected wineries in Veneto. The winery was founded in 1857 by brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani. The house has since built a reputation for classic wines with great elegance and ageability.

Today, Bertani is part of Bertani Domains, which also includes wineries such as Trerose in Tuscany and San Leonino in Tuscany. Despite the evolution, Bertani has maintained its traditional approach to Amarone. It is precisely this respect for history that has made the house a reference for Amarone della Valpolicella.
