The whisky was distilled on August 29, 2013 at the iconic Caol Ila distillery on Islay and bottled direct from cask on January 31, 2025. It comes from a single refill hogshead (cask no. 319952) and only 123 bottles were bottled – an extremely limited edition, making this bottling a true collector’s item.

This cask has its own dramatic story. During aging, leakage occurred, which reduced the volume significantly. But where volume was lost, flavor won out. The slow and demanding maturation has given the whisky an unusually soft, rounded and harmonious character. A rare example of how adversity can ennoble the result – a tragic beauty in liquid form.

As always at Lady of the Glen, the whisky is bottled without chill filtration and without added color. This is Caol Ila as the cask and time created it – honest, intense and full of the soul of Islay.

Tasting notes

Nose: A surprisingly gentle and slightly sweet opening that immediately arouses curiosity and promises more than just classic smoke.

Palate: Salty maritime notes reminiscent of Islay’s rugged shores combined with Caol Ila’s distinctive peat smoke – elegant, refined and perfectly integrated.

Finish: Long and balanced with smoke, sea salt and a rounded softness that makes this whisky remarkably drinkable despite its depth.

Lady of the Glen – craft, myths and single casks

Founded in 2012 by Gregor Hannah, Lady of the Glen is named after a tragic ghost story from Stirling Castle. Since 2020, the house has been based in Dalgety Bay in Fife, overlooking the Firth of Forth and Edinburgh.
