Cardinale Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2007 – Great Napa Cabernet in absolute top class
Cardinale Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2007 is a wine that speaks directly to the discerning wine lover. It’s the essence of Napa Valley in a single bottle – powerful, deeply complex and at the same time characterized by a rare elegance. It’s a wine for collectors, enthusiasts and anyone looking for iconic American Cabernet Sauvignon with both personality and aging potential.
2007 is considered a classic great vintage in Napa Valley, and Cardinale takes full advantage of the year. The wine is intense and concentrated, but never heavy – a textbook example of how mountain fruit and valley floor can merge in perfect balance. It’s already impressive today, but has the structure and depth to develop beautifully over the next several years.
Napa Valley – when hillsides meet finesse
The vintage is composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, selected from some of Napa Valley’s most prestigious vineyards. The grapes come primarily from the cooler and mineral-rich Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain, Mount Veeder and Diamond Mountain, which contribute structure, freshness and intensity. Fruit from Oakville and St. Helena Benchlands adds roundness, ripe fruit and depth.
The wine is aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, 90% of which are new. It is bottled unfiltered to preserve maximum aromatic depth and texture. The result is a wine with impressive concentration, silky tannins and a long life ahead.
Tasting notes
Color: Deep violet with an intense and vibrant glow.
Aroma: Expressive and inviting with notes of blackcurrant, cherry, licorice and dark spices, beautifully rounded by freshly toasted oak.
Palate: Full-bodied and structured with dark fruit, anise, graphite and an elegant mineral touch. The tannins are dense but silky smooth and perfectly integrated.
Finish: Long, persistent and harmonious with great depth.
Aging potential: Can develop beautifully for up to 20-25 years under optimal conditions.
History of the house
Cardinale was founded in 1982 with an ambitious vision: to create a single wine that represents the best of Napa Valley’s best vineyards, year after year. In the 1990s, the winery became part of Jackson Family Wines, gaining access to some of California’s most coveted vineyards.
Since the early 2000s, winemaker Christopher Carpenter has been at the helm of Cardinale. His focus is on uncompromising quality, precision in the field and an artful blend of mountain and valley fruit. Produced in small quantities, Cardinale is today recognized as one of Napa Valley’s most consistent and age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
