Christian Drouin Vintage 1991 Batch 16153 is a rare and characterful vintage Calvados from one of Normandy’s most recognized houses. Distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2016 at 42% alcohol, this vintage represents the essence of time, barrel ageing and craftsmanship.

Tasting notes

Color: Golden amber with warm copper reflections.

Aroma: Ripe apples, baked pears and dried fruit. Notes of caramel, honey and toasted almonds. Elegant hints of vanilla and spicy oak.

Flavor: Silky and complex. Layers of baked apples, apple compote and candied citrus. The cask contributes warm spices, light toffee and subtle tannin.

Finish: Long and rounded with lingering notes of apple, spice and mature oak.

The history of the house

The Christian Drouin Calvados house was founded immediately after the Second World War by Christian Drouin senior, who had the ambition to produce the world’s best Calvados. In the beginning, production was built up quietly without commercial launch, creating a unique cellar stock of older vintages.

In 1960, the house decided to produce and bottle under its own name. The first official bottling came about 20 years later. Today, the house is run by Christian Drouin the 2nd, who continues the family traditions and has achieved international recognition for both vintage Calvados and elegant blends.
