Domaine Didier Dagueneau Les Jardins de Babylone 2013 – Legendary sweet wine with depth, freshness and huge ageing potential

Les Jardins de Babylone 2013 is one of the most exclusive and rare sweet wines from France – created by the iconic Didier Dagueneau. Here we are in Jurançon, where, with the same uncompromising approach as in the Loire, he has created a wine that balances intense sweetness with an almost electric freshness. The result is a wine that impresses collectors and gastronomes the world over.

The wine is produced at Petit Manseng from a small, steeply sloping parcel with optimal sun exposure. The grapes are harvested very late and undergo strict selection, resulting in extreme concentration and complexity. The combination of high ripeness and natural acidity creates a wine with exceptional balance and an aging potential of several decades.

2013 is a classic and cool vintage, giving a more elegant and precise style. The acidity is high and lifts the wine, making it lean, focused and incredibly vibrant – even with age. It’s a wine that is already seductive now, but will develop even greater complexity over the next 20-30 years.

Tasting notes

The nose is intense and nuanced with aromas of ripe peach, apricot, pineapple and candied citrus, elegantly combined with honey, flowers and a hint of spice. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated with a silky texture, where the sweetness is perfectly balanced by a fresh, vibrant acidity. The finish is long, complex and persistent with an elegant, mineral freshness.

About the producer

Didier Dagueneau was a visionary and uncompromising winemaker who revolutionized quality in the Loire and set new standards for Sauvignon Blanc. With Les Jardins de Babylone, he showed his talent beyond the Loire and created one of the world’s most coveted sweet wines. Today, his son, Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau, carries on his legacy and continues to produce top-class wines.
