The history of the house

Quinta do Pégo is more than just a winery – it’s a place where tradition and innovation go hand in hand. The property is owned by Karsten Søndergaard, who with great dedication has renovated the vineyard and tended the vineyards down towards the Douro River to perfection.

Behind the wines is an international team of award-winning winemakers, including Niel Bester, former head winemaker at Plaisir de Merle in South Africa. Quinta do Pégo has gained international recognition for its port wines in particular, which have won both gold and platinum medals from Decanter, while its reds are now impressing wine lovers around the world.
